Improving Performance Through People

INVESTORS IN PEOPLE COMMITTED ORGANISATIONS

Congratulations! As a commited Investors in People organisation you have already commenced your journey towards recognised performance improvement through the development of your greatest asset......people.

Welcome to the dedicated resource page for organisations that have made a commitment to work towards achieving Investors in People recognition. Whether you are a multinational or small business, a school, hospital, charity or non-profit making organisation, it doesnt matter, the Investors in People Standard is here to help you improve the way your organisation works.

Investors in People Extended Framework

There have been some very recent changes to the way that organisations approach Investors in People.  Investors in People UK are providing organisations with greater flexibility and choice around the way in which they choose to work with the Investors in People framework.  By focusing on individual objectives, organisations can align the framework more closely with their business objectives and therefore forge a more relevant link with the Standard, thus gaining even greater benefits.

New Approach

Committed organisations can choose to be assessed against one or more additional ‘themes’ within the extended framework which could take them above ‘Level 1’ of the Standard.

Don’t be alarmed!  The content of the Standard remains exactly the same and, in order to become a recognised Investor in People, an organisation must still be assessed against, and meet all of the ten indicators of the Standard.

However, to support the ethos of continuous improvement, an organisation can now opt to be assessed at a higher level against selected indicators and to receive valuable, independent feedback as part of the assessment process.  This means that each assessment will be planned and tailored to each individual organisation with feedback presented in a format that is much more meaningful to you.

As one of three regional assessment centres who undertook a successful pilot of this new way of working earlier on this year, we in the West Midlands are ahead of the game.  Investors in People UK are planning to launch this approach across the remainder of the assessment centres in early 2009.

Investors in People Interactive

Interactive is a free web-based resource developed by Investors in People UK to take full advantage of technology, and guide you through activities to help you transform your organisation’s performance.  A preview enables you to explore how the tool works and see the range of options available and you can access an on-line diagnostic to get a feel for how your organisation might currently measure up against the Standard.

IIP Interactive provides a variety of activities designed to help your organisation get the most from Investors in People, together with guides, examples, templates (which you can download and customise) and other support materials.

The content is structured around 5 key management practices which link directly to the Investors in People Standard:

Mentoring

As an organisation that has committed to working towards achieving recognition as an Investor in People, you may feel that you would benefit in learning from the experiences of someone within an organisation that is already recognised.

WMQC has a number of trained mentors from recognised organisations who are willing to share their knowledge and to act as an independent and objective source of help.  Mentors provide support on a voluntary basis but do not advise organisations – they are an additional source of assistance and guidance.
